Although how deep they can dig varies, depending on the company you hire, at D&S Bobcat Service, Inc., we drill straight shafts up to 18 feet deep and 12-48 inches width.

Loose Sediment
Any sediment or naturally occurring material at the bottom of the shaft shouldn’t be more than three inches. Otherwise, it could cause significant problems in the future. Regardless of the quality of the tremie, if there’s an issue with those rocks, the rest of the process would become much difficult.
Environmental Consideration
The environment where you’re installing drill shaft foundation also plays a critical role in determining the overall success of the project. For instance, if the structure is supposed to go underwater, the concrete mix will be slightly different. So, it’s better to assess the surrounding area first and then install.
